“Though she be but little, she is fierce!”
--- William Shakespeare

Easily one of the most difficult castings I have ever accomplished. The spherical mold cavities (the berries) offered ample opportunity for air entrapment which could have resulted in thousands of ghastly defects. Perhaps it is foolish to title a work with such a famous namesake, but I couldn't resist. Van Gogh's famous impasto style interestingly resembles the folds, lumps and swirling bark texture of a Japanese Winterberry (ilex Serrata) and under a spotlight, the berries will gleam like distant stars.
